Title: </strong> N/A<br /> <strong>Org location </strong> :<br /> Twelve Clans Unity Hospital, CLINICAL SERVICES, RADIOLOGY<br /> <strong>FLSA STATUS </strong> :<br /> NON-EXEMPT<br /> <br /> <strong>INTRODUCTION: </strong><br /> This position<br /> is located in the Radiology Department within Twelve Clans Unity Hospital,<br /> division of WCHS in Winnebago, Nebraska.<br /> <br /> <strong>DUTIES AND<br /> RESPONSIBILITIES </strong><br /> <strong>PATIENT CARE/CUSTOMER<br /> SERVICE </strong> <strong> </strong><br /> Incumbent will maintain HIPPA<br /> confidentiality requirements and conduct themselves in an ethical manner.<br /> Incumbent will receive and greet patients, explain<br /> methods of procedures, position patients, select and sets technical factors,<br /> set accessory equipment and performs necessary imaging for the requested<br /> procedures.<br /> Works with patients to assess needs, provide assistance,<br /> resolve problems, and satisfy expectations.<br /> Incumbent will foster a good<br /> relationship with colleagues and coworkers; is a good representative of the<br /> Radiology Department.<br /> Incumbent will work closely with<br /> Radiologists to ensure correct imaging and best patient care is performed based<br /> on indications provided by ordering provider and the patient.<br /> Incumbent will provide patient care on<br /> adults, adolescents, toddlers and infants.<br /> Incumbent will perform age specific competence testing annually.<br /> Incumbent will demonstrate<br /> professionalism and ensure work is organized and efficient to maintain good<br /> patient flow and the patient experience.<br /> Incumbent must be able to assist in a<br /> cardiac arrest situation, CPR, anaphylaxis shock along with the other<br /> designated medical staff.<br /> Incumbent should be<br /> able to make sound, well-informed and objective decisions; perceive the impact<br /> and implications of decisions; commit to action, even in uncertain<br /> situations, to accomplish organizational goals.<br /> <strong>PERFORMING PATIENT EXAMS </strong> <strong> </strong> <strong> </strong><br /> Incumbent will perform a variety of<br /> routine and complex Ultrasound examinations.<br /> Exams performed by incumbent include, but not limited to:<br /> routine early pregnancy pelvic, anatomic pregnancy ultrasounds, general abdominal,<br /> renal, carotid, thyroid, scrotum ultrasounds.<br /> <br /> While performing very complex (special<br /> examinations) the incumbent will receive procedural direction from Radiologist when<br /> necessary.<br /> Incumbent<br /> must be knowledgeable of anatomy and physiology and be able to adjust controls<br /> for image quality, i.e. patient positioning, compression, and image production,<br /> contrast.<br /> Incumbent<br /> must be able to deviate from the routine textbook positioning and protocols of<br /> a standard exam to a nonstandard exam, which may require adjusting positioning,<br /> technical factors and the number of images needed to satisfy the exam<br /> requirements. Incumbent will produce<br /> diagnostic quality images.<br /> Incumbent will correlate clinical history, pertinent<br /> clinical data, lab test and other ancillary exams to obtain an ultrasound of<br /> optimal clinical value.<br /> Incumbent<br /> will monitor the patients condition during the examination and if necessary<br /> renders emergency aid and summons assistance.<br /> Incumbent<br /> will correctly mark and label images for appropriate interpretation.<br /> Incumbent<br /> will communicate worksheets and exam completion with Radiologists and will<br /> assure that all images have been transmitted.<br /> I ncumbent will clean/disinfect the<br /> patient contact surfaces after each patient.<br /> I ncumbent will clean/disinfect the probes<br /> and maintain appropriate logs to demonstrate disinfection.<br /> The Incumbent<br /> Medical Instrument Technologist must maintain their certification/accreditation<br /> through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) by<br /> complying with rules and regulations set forth by the ARDMS.<br /> In addition,<br /> incumbent is responsible for maintaining current CPR BLS certification.<br /> <strong>TECHNICAL COMPETENCE </strong> <strong> </strong><br /> Incumbent will independently<br /> operate Ultrasound equipment as needed.<br /> Incumbent will make recommendations to<br /> Radiology Supervisor regarding equipment upgrades, purchases, maintenance or<br /> service based on their knowledge and expertise.<br /> Incumbent will receive and review requests from medical<br /> providers for ultrasound examinations. Determines the conditions at issue and<br /> procedures and equipment necessary to best meet the needs of each individual<br /> case.<br /> Incumbent will be thorough when performing work and<br /> conscientious about attending to details; assuring correct name, exam, number<br /> of images, accurate registration/case number assigned.<br /> Incumbent will determine technical factors according<br /> to procedural guidelines. Incumbent when<br /> necessary, will make adjustments to technical factors to ensure optimal imaging<br /> elements are met.<br /> Incumbent<br /> will work with medical providers to assure that the correct imaging is ordered<br /> based on the clinical history given and make recommendations for corrections.<br /> Incumbent will be responsible to report any critical<br /> finding immediately to ordering provider or their designee.<br /> Incumbent will log all critical findings in the Critical<br /> Log book, assuring the results get to the medical provider as soon as possible.<br /> <br /> <strong>OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED </strong> :<br /> Incumbent<br /> will be responsible for scheduling minor ultrasound equipment repairs and<br /> scheduling preventative maintenance as recommended. Incumbent will keep accurate Quality Control<br /> records and file service tickets etc., as assigned by the Supervisor.<br /> <br /> Incumbent will keep<br /> accurate records of patient workloads via daily patient log report, RPMS, EHR.<br /> Incumbent will be required to schedule<br /> patients for Ultrasound, CT and Mammograms as needed. <strong> </strong><br /> Incumbent will work with urgent care medical staff to ensure that Ultrasound<br /> services are being met in timely manner i.e., patient are being scheduled, STAT/preliminary<br /> reads are received in a timely manner and critical values are reported<br /> immediately and maintained in log book.<br /> Incumbent<br /> will carry out a variety of digital imaging duties i.e., pushing images to a<br /> Picture Archiving System (PACS) workstation, electronic editing and annotating<br /> images. Maintain and troubleshoot ultrasound<br /> equipment, picture archiving systems (PACS), and various radiology Information<br /> Technology (IT) equipment.<br /> Incumbent provides monthly workload report<br /> for the ultrasound department to the Radiology Supervisor monthly by the 5th<br /> of each month.<br /> Incumbent will keep Radiology Supervisor<br /> apprised of patient complaints and staff issues.<br /> Incumbent<br /> may assist in planning and coordinating work operations in imaging<br /> department.<br /> Incumbent will assist in maintaining<br /> staff permissions/access to PACS, etc. and ensuring imaging codes are<br /> up-to-date.<br /> Incumbent will communicate a supply list<br /> to Radiology Technologist in charge of supplies to requisition supplies necessary<br /> to meet the needs of the ultrasound department under the direction of the<br /> Radiology Supervisor.<br /> Incumbent will complete all required<br /> departmental and hospital trainings and competencies.<br /> This<br /> is not an inclusive list, other duties may be assigned as needed. <strong> </strong><br /> <br /> <strong>REQUIRED<br /> EDUCATION/TRAINING/CERTIFICATION </strong> <strong> </strong><br /> <br /> ARDMS registered or equivalent in General, OB and/or<br /> Vascular. Preference given to candidates who have all registrations and those<br /> who are also registered in additional modalities: ARRT Radiology, CT or<br /> Mammography.<br /> BLS certification is also required.<br /> <br /> <strong>WORK SCHEDULE </strong><br /> <br /> The schedule is predicted to vary based on<br /> current volumes. <strong> </strong><br />
