Arkansas Children s Hospital is a 359 bed, trauma 1, teaching hospital. www.arcchildrens.org MUST TEST NEGATIVE FOR NICOTINE The 5E Medical Surgical unit is a 15 bed unit. Prior travel experience is not required; must have 2 years of clinical experience in the specialty. General medical-surgical skills; peripheral and central IV therapies (CVL, PICCs). Strong teamwork skills; excellent communication skills with patients, family and intraprofessional team; energetic, flexible; able to care for patients with multiple complex care needs; deals well in potential high-stress situations; proficient with patients requiring tracheostomy and ventilation needs (ventilator, BiPAP). Intraprofessional team includes RNs, Patient Care Technicians, Unit Secretaries, MDs of multiple levels (Attending, Fellows, Residents, Interns), Rehabilitation Therapies (Occupational, Physical, Speech, Music); Child Life & Education Specialists; Social Work; Case Management; various Ancillary services Ratio is 1:3-4. 1-2 PCTs per shift. Floating is required to other pediatric units. Traveler are first to float. RNs should expect 2-3 days of orientation and specialty testing for the facility. ACH Dress Code must be followed and is available in Client Documents on the Compliance tab of this requisition. Scrubs are available in IR. EMR is EPIC. Scheduling by manager or scheduler; no self scheduling. No on call requirements. Weekends may be required. Holidays required, as needed. Patient population: Patients from birth to 7 years of age with the following illnesses: infectious disease, feeding disorders, GI illnesses; child maltreatment; ENT disorders; pulmonary diseases; general early childhood illnesses/injuries. Age range is 0-7 years. Massimo pulse oximetry. Types of Pediatric Surgery: GI, ENT, skin abscess management Average length of patient stay: general med-surg patients: 1-3 days. Average length of patient stay: general med-surg patients: 2-3 days; ventilator-dependent patients: 90 days Respiratory available for support. Patient Schooling Process: Child Life and Education Specialists actively involved in evaluation each patient for unique school/education needs during prolonged hospitalization. Comment:Shift 7p-7a w/weekends MUST TEST NEGATIVE FOR NICOTINE. Covid Vaccination must be included in submission. 5D MEDICAL UNIT Previous travel experience is not required; must have a minimum of 2 years clinical experience in specialty. CPN, CRRN preferred. Pyxis, tracheostomy, ventilator support (invasive and non-invasive); peripheral and central IV therapies (CVL, PICCs); general medical-surgical skills. Strong teamwork skills; excellent communication skills with patients, family and intraprofessional team; energetic, flexible; able to care for patients with multiple complex care needs; deals well in potential high-stress situations; proficient with patients requiring tracheostomy and ventilation needs (ventilator, BiPAP). Patient Population (Diagnoses): Patients from birth to 21 years of age with the following illnesses: head injuries; spinal cord injuries; multiple trauma; burn injuries; pulmonary diseases, including tracheostomy and ventilator-dependent patients. Types of Pediatric Surgery: Post-trauma surgery, burn surgery (complex burn dressing/graft management) Average length of patient stay: greater than 30 days Special equipment: Massimo pulse oximetry, LTV, Trilogy RTs manage ventilators. Patient Schooling Process: Child Life and Education specialists actively involved in evaluating each patient for unique school/education needs during prolonged hospitalization
