Arkansas Children s Hospital is a 359 bed, trauma 1, teaching hospital. www.arcchildrens.org MUST TEST NEGATIVE FOR NICOTINE Emergency Department is a 39 bed unit and the only pediatric level 1 trauma center in the state. 2 years of specialty experience is required. TNCC and ENPC are both preferred. Prior travel expereicen is not required. Current daily average of patients is 200, 65000+ per year. Security in ED; metal detectors and off duty Little Rock police officer present 1500-2300. Floating is not required. Nurse/Patient Ratios: 1:1-3/4, Fast Track 1:5/6. 0700-1100: 10, 1100-1500: 14, 1500-2300: 15, 2300-0300: 14, 0300-0700: 10 (3-4 RNs per zone) Ancillary Assistance is available. RNs should expect 3 days of orientation and specialty testing for the facility. ACH Dress Code must be followed and is available in Client Documents on the Compliance tab of this requisition. EMR is EPIC. Schedule is manager/scheduler driven and every other weekend is required. No on call; holidays are required, as needed. Patient population (diagnoses): Pediatric minor illness through major trauma. 40% transfers from other hospital(s). No in house psychiatry or psychiatric beds. 2 safe rooms in ED for acute psychiatric pateints. Medically stabilized and transferred to psychiatric facility. Average length of patient stay is 3.5 hours. Average waiting for admission bed is 6 hours, from arrival to ED. Age ranges are birth to under 21 years old, occasional adult patients. Equipment: Sigma, Syringe Pump-Med Fusion 3500 IV pumps are used. PIVs are started by RNs and Paramedics, IV team available, RNs and Paramedics do phlebotomy, RNs, Techs and Paramedics do 12 lead EKGs. Travelers do not triage and will not do SANE cases. PCTs are responsible for vitals, stocking, EKGs, ALS team, greeter, POCT, holding for procedures, cleaning rooms and ADLs. Paramedics do PIV insertion, IO insertion, medication administration, splinting, ALS team, etc. Transport system in house RTs manage ventilators Standardized airway carts, pharmacy responds to all codes. Pathways/no protocols, physician-initiated orders. The unit often has return travelers during winter/high census time.
