Days of Orientation: General Hospital Orientation: Done at Providence Portland consists of hands on<br />

and computer documentation: EPIC. Clinical Orient/ time on assigned shift: 1 shift<br /> Patient Care Modality: Primary<br /> <br /> Dress Code No visible tattoos<br /> Scrubs/color: Any color/pattern scrubs, must be tasteful, neat Professional.<br /> Shoes: close toed<br /> Jewelry: no facial piercing other than ears<br /> Nail Polish: no artificial nails<br /> <br /> Documentation System: EPIC<br /> Medication System: Pyxis<br /> Floating Required: Yes<br /> To what units/facilities: Can expect to be floated freq (ICUs/PCU, Tele, MS ) and other PHS Oregon hospitals<br /> Describe the rotation: Travelers float first<br /> Charge required: No<br /> Shift Hours: 7a 12hrs 7p 12hrs<br /> Rotation Schedule: not unless posted that way<br /> Self-Scheduling: No<br /> Weekend Requirements: Every other<br /> Call Requirements: No<br /> Holiday Requirements: Yes, will be scheduled to help cover holidays. Christmas or NY<br /> <br /> Patient Population: ICU type includes some neuro/post codes, MODS, shock, sepsis, use hypothermia protocols, Esophagostomies (have protocols) ACTs / STEMI’s/ CHF/_CVA’s/ Big GI surgeries, Resp failure /ARD’s /ICU palliative care<br /> Age Range: 17 and up<br /> Special Equipment: PA catheters, SVO2 monitoring, vents, ventrics/ICP monitoring, IABP, A-Lines, CRRT, Mini med IV pumps,<br /> Phillips monitors, Puritan Bennett 840s, lots of BiPap/ Vison machines<br /> Who manages ventilators: RT<br /> <br /> Unit Specific Procedures and Protocols: Use Hypothermia protocols. RNs start own IVs. RNs do line draws, Lab does phlebotomy<br /> Additional Unit Specific Information: All travelers should align with PHS core values: respect/compassion stewardship<br /> <br /> Staff Mix/Composition: RN’s / MD’s occ a CAN-II and 1 HUC in the day time<br /> <br /> Best Fit Traveler:<br /> Works well under stress, support staff through change.<br /> Positive attitude<br /> Very passionate about the Pts<br /> Flexibility great attitude caring behaviors, able to speak concisely, detail oriented.<br /> <br /> Requires experience with:<br /> Ask if they can do own ABG draws, IV skills.<br /> Most procedures done at the bedside – need to have exp with conscious sedation –ie colonoscopy,<br /> burr holes, putting lines in, use nitric oxide a + lots of central lines not too many PA cath less than they<br /> used to<br /> Works with MD and residents can have 15 docs on the unit at one time<br /> <br /> ALL TIME OFF REQUIRED AT THE TIME OF SUBMISSION<br /> NO LOCALS ACCEPTED: PROFESSIONALS MUST RESIDE OVER 50 MILES OF FACILITY TO QUALIFY<br /> <br /> Professionals must be open to floating, as they can be told to float.<br /> <br /> MUST NOT CURRENTLY BE WORKING IN ANY WAY FOR PROVIDENCE OR ANY OF ITS AFFILIATES. IF THE PROFESSIONAL IS A FORMER EMPLOYEE OF PROVIDENCE OR ANY OF ITS AFFILIATES (SWEDISH MEDICAL CENTER or PAC MED). MUST HAVE TERMINATED EMPLOYMENT AT LEAST 6 MONTHS AGO AND BE IN GOOD STANDING. DOCUMENTS MUST BE COMPLETE 1 WEEK PRIOR TO START, NO EXCEPTIONS.
