<strong>RN - Med Surg</strong><br />

- General job duties. Types of procedures required.<br />
Bedside staff RN with ability to manage Medsurg patients of all ages.<br />
- Equipment utilized in the unit/dept. (Is there computerized charting, medication systems, etc.)<br />
Alaris IV pump. Hill-rom beds and call system. Kangaroo pumps, quadramed pyxis.<br />
- Required skills and minimum years of experience.<br />
Minimum 2 years Medsurg experience<br />
- Specific licensures and certifications/registrations required. (ARRT, CRT, BLS, ACLS, etc)<br />
BLS required, PALS required.<br />
- Shift or schedule requirements. (Will the employee ever work alone? Is call required? If so, how often? Are weekends required?)<br />
On call may be necessary for low census. weekends required. Traveler can't expect block or set schedule, need to help fill the gaps on the schedule.<br />
- Floating to other units/departments. (If so, to which units/departments?)<br />
ER, post partum and stepdown. No patient load, just assisting<br />
- Bed size/number of rooms for this unit/dept.<br />
20 rooms with 35 beds<br />
- Nurse to patient ratio of this unit. (nursing only)<br />
1:5 occasionally but 1:6 if emergent surgeries<br />
- Dress Code: no specific color<br />
- Tell us about the unit/department specific training and orientation program.<br />
HR and education day 1. restraint training day 2. Shadow 1 shift then work after that.<br />
