Updates to eNLC Compact States: Kansas & Louisiana

Effective July 1st, 2019, Kansas and Louisiana are now a part of the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact!

This is great news for travel nurses and gives you even more options when considering where to take your next position. States that join the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC) have agreed to recognize each other’s nursing licenses.

A nurse who resides in a compact state and holds an active license in good standing is able to use their compact license to work in any of the participating states. See the map below for an updated list of compact states.

If you are a nurse in Kansas or Louisiana:

Your state license will now be recognized in all participating compact states. You can now work in 30 other states (see the full list below) without having to apply for a separate license. Please call the Board of Nursing for more information about obtaining your compact-approved license.

If you are a nurse with a compact license in another eNLC state:

Great news! Kansas and Louisiana will now recognize your existing license. You can work in Kansas and Louisiana with the license you already have!
