5 Bucket List Items In Oklahoma City, OK

Oklahoma City is one of those hidden gems. The city is full of life and some really unique experiences. We’ve had a few travelers head to Oklahoma City on assignments and they came back with a list of their favorite places to visit around the city.

  1. Myriad Botanical Gardens – The Myriad Botanical Gardens is much more than just some pretty flowers. It’s a thriving center for entertainment. An ice rink is up and running during the winter for all sorts of fun and they host PJ and pancake parties for kids around the holidays. The crystal bridge is the centerpiece of the gardens and is home to thousands of beautiful tropical and desert plant life. It’s definitely a fun place to explore while you’re in the city.
  2. National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum – Plan a visit to the wild wild west at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum. You’ll get a unique glimpse into the daily life of a real cowboy. You’ll learn about Native American history and see preserved artifacts. Right now, you can walk through an exhibit all about the life of a cougar. The exhibits change regularly and it’s the #2 thing to do in the city! Put it on your list and check it out.
  3. Wheeler Ferris Wheel – If you want to go take a ride on the Ferris Wheel, it’s super easy. Just $6 gets you a single ride, but grab a $20 day pass and go as much as you want! 6 people can fit in one car on the wheel so bring your 5 closest friends or some new co-workers from the facility where you’re working. It’s a great place for some cool photos or even a picnic in the park. Outside food is welcome in the area, but they will have some food trucks occasionally so follow them on social media to see when the next delicious truck will be by!

Where to eat dinner in Oklahoma City: Vito Ristorante

Great Italian food is a must have while you’re on assignment and Vito Ristorante home to high-quality, authentic Italian food. They have a ton of amazing wines to try too! Vito’s is a great family-owned local restaurant that people in the area swear by. Take a look at some of their reviews.

“We just landed from a week-long vacation and we didn’t even go home first. We stopped at Vito’s for the best food around. Everything on the menu is absolutely amazing. Well we have had 90% of the menu and have never had a bad bite. Kathy and her staff are so e of the warmest and most inviting people to be around. I can never get enough of this place. I love the chicken parmesan which I have eaten around d the world. This is the best of them all. The chicken is always breaded and cooked to perfection. The cheese melts smoothly over the top to give a perfect but every time. I switch out for spaghetti. A must try. I’m Italian and this is the only Italian that I like outside of my little hometown.”
Shaun S.

“The best Italian food in town. The pesto sauce was incredible!!! The owner Cathy is an amazing woman and all the staff was wonderful too. Totally going back there again.”
Kinza R.

“Wow!! This place is just amazing, the staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The food was so good I sadly didn’t have any room for dessert. Before eating here, I was not a fan of muscles but they have changed me. We got one of the specials that included muscles with fettuccine; I tried one and I can’t believe how delicious and tender they were. Our other food was equally delicious. I can’t wait to go back to try another one of there dishes and dessert, of course. If you’re debating on if you should try Vito’s, DO IT!! You will not be disappointed.”

For a great dessert in Oklahoma City: Pie Junkie

It’s named Pie Junkie, need we say more?! They take pie pretty seriously and they do it well. The number of flavors and options at Pie Junkie are endless. You can grab a bite right from the store or take and bake yourself. They sell their own delicious Maple Bourbon Whipped Cream and, of course, traditional whipped cream for those of us that like the classics. The store was opened by two moms that shared a love for homemade pie and turned that passion into a local sensation. You’ll have to stop and grab a bite (and bring some to us too…). Their reviews say it all!

“Best pie place in 2 states! Have yet to find a better pie place in Texas and always have to make a trip when in OK bc they are unlike any other! The staff works their little booties off especially around the holidays for their customers making thousands of pies during November and beyond! I am continually impressed with the staff’s customer service and the quality of each and every pie! They definitely have a pie for everyone- the Drunken Turtle is my absolute fave!! The price point and size of their slices and pies are pretty perfect as well- could not ask for more.”
Theresa F.

“If you like pie, this is the place for YOU!!! My go to is their amazing Key Lime Pie that has a graham cracker macadamia nut crust…to DIE for! Ask for the fresh whipped cream to go on top! The Drunken turtle, Strawberry pie, peanut butter pie, Coconut cream pie, the list goes on & on of amazing pies. They even sell delicious pot pies you can take home and bake!!!”
Alecia S.

“I might have a pie problem. Their pies are full and flavorful. If you are in Plaza you should definitely stop by and grab a slice…or three.”
Allison R.
