Meet Lisa! She’s an incredibly hard-working ICU nurse that truly cares for her patients.
Her recruiter AND her current account manager nominated her for a #trustafftraveler spotlight due to her incredible work and continuously positive feedback from facilities! Take a look below and get to know her a bit!
Tell us about YOU! Where are you from? Family? Friends? Pets?
I’m from Owasso, Oklahoma. I have 3 grown sons and 1 little 7lb Pomeranian named Trixie. I’m the oldest of 6 children and grew up in the country.
Why did you decide to go into healthcare?
I love helping people. My favorite are elderly people. I have decided that elderly people go one of two ways generally: 1. They are cranky and want the darn kids to stay off their lawn and turn down their music, and 2. Have you eaten yet and do you want them to fix you something to eat?
What prompted you to start traveling?
The increase in income is enticing, but the romantic notion of traveling wherever my heart desires seemed like a fairy tale that was too good to be true until Justin Whisenant (her trustaff recruiter) contacted me. He walked me through every step of the process with a checklist to make it easy to get started. He is always there at a moments notice if I need anything at all on assignment.
What was your first assignment like?
It rained every single day that I had off. I had horrible living conditions for the first week. The people at trustaff went above and beyond to help me get into a suitable place and ensure my safety and security.
What’s your favorite thing about traveling?
My favorite thing is meeting new people and hearing their stories.
What is the most challenging part about traveling? How do you overcome it?
Being away from family and friends is the hardest part. Facetime and Marco Polo apps were a Godsend.
What advice would you have for someone who is thinking about starting their travel career?
Go for it! Find a buddy and split the expenses. Take lots of pictures and journal about your experiences.
