It’s our favorite time of the week! Time to feature a traveler that has gone above and beyond. Jennifer is an incredibly hard worker for every facility she goes to. Her recruiter nominated her for a trustaff traveler spotlight because of her dedication to her patients, the facility, and making the most out of her traveling career.
Tell us about YOU! Where are you from? Family? Friends? Pets?
I’m from Southern Illinois. I travel with my two cats, Squeakers and Muffin. I’ve made friends all over, but my best friend is Sarah C, who is in South Florida right now.
Why did you decide to go into healthcare?
I just remember from an early age that I liked babies and that I wanted to help deliver them.
What prompted you to start traveling?
I needed a change. I needed to get away from southern Illinois. And I wanted to travel!
What was your first assignment like?
My first assignment was not far from home, only 3 hours north. They were very welcoming knowing I had been a labor and delivery nurse for 6 years prior but a new traveler.
What’s your favorite thing about traveling?
Getting to go places I’ve never been before.
What is the most challenging part about traveling? How do you overcome it?
Saying goodbye to my family and leaving them. I just remind myself that I chose this lifestyle and I can change it at any time but I won’t get the same experiences if I stay home. And take it one day at a time.
How many assignments have you taken and where?
I’ve been in 3 different places, but 7 total contracts.
What advice would you have for someone who is thinking about starting their travel career?
Do some soul searching before you do. Pros and cons. Talk to travel companies to see which one is going to be the right fit for you. And prepare for an adventure!
