#RecruiterTakeover: Meet Emily Carey

Emily Carey has been a recruiter at trustaff for 4 years, but she’s been doing this for a lot longer! She’s a rockstar on our team. Her nurses become more like friends than just travelers. She loves to meet up and hang out with her nurses when they get a chance. She took over our social media accounts for an entire week and shared a lot about herself. Get to know Emily better!

Q: Tell us about you! Then pick up to 10 photos you would be okay with sharing that show people who you are (pets, hobbies, family, etc.). Just attach them to an email and send them to me.

I have been recruiting for over 10 years now and at trustaff for almost 4 of those 10 years. I am a mother of one amazing son, Spencer, he is 8 years old and keeps me on my toes and busy with all his sports. When I am not working or busy being my sons biggest fan (especially on that wrestling mat) you can find me doing something outdoorsy, going to a concert, or hanging out with the greatest group of friends in the whole entire world!

Q: What do you like to do in your spare time?

In my spare time, I hang out with my boy and my friends. You can usually catch us going to several concerts each summer!! I have been very blessed to have a rock solid group of friends, some of which I have known for most of my life, our loyalty runs deep. Other than that I am usually at my son’s Football games, wrestling matches (my son is a 2-time state qualifier at 8 years old) or at his Baseball games. He keeps me busy but I love watching him give his all at anything and everything he does. He makes me so proud to be his momma.

Q: What’s your favorite thing about working at trustaff and why?

My favorite thing about working at trustaff is the people!! I have met so many great people here, some that I have developed friendships with that will last the rest of my life. My coworkers are more like family. My nurses are like family. I love my job and I love what I do!!

Q: Top 5 favorite songs to listen to at work:

My Spotify consists of multiple playlists with some that have over 500 songs each. How am I ever supposed to pick just a few songs?? Okay, I put together a little list of some of my all-time favorites. Listen along with me throughout the week! Honestly, I don’t listen to music much at work. I love hanging out with my coworkers and talking to nurses. I have a blast with the account managers.

Q: If you could give your travelers one tip, what would it be?

If I could give one tip to our travelers, it would be to choose a recruiter that you feel comfortable with and that you TRUST. Essentially you are taking your entire nursing career and handing it over and into the hands of someone you have never met and have probably only talked to a couple times. You need to be able to trust that your recruiter will always have your best interest at heart and more importantly that they are and will always be honest with you and 100% have your back. I am a very blunt and loyal person. I tell it like it is and my not going to sugar coat it for you. It is very important that I am transparent with my travelers to avoid any miscommunication.

Q: Favorite place to travel and why?

My favorite place to travel so far is Florida! Sounds redundant I know but I love me some Florida. I took my son for the first time last month and we had the best vacation ever! Back in November, I also got to spend a week at trustaff’s Boca Raton office for the employee exchange program. I loved being able to see the office down there and also get to meet my co-workers that I speak with daily but had never had the pleasure of meeting.

Q: Who, besides your parents, has had the most impact on your life?

Greg Hitt has had the most impact on my life. When I met Greg about 15 years ago, I was young and dumb. Hitt is a retired military recruiter and who for some reason believed in me, more than I had ever believed in myself and he convinced me that I could be a recruiter. He eventually “brainwashed” me into recruiting and taught me everything I needed to know to be a very successful recruiter. I still talk to him to this day and have been recruiting for over 12 years because that man decided saw something in me that I never saw in myself. He is my mentor, life coach, and a very good friend. He and his wife will always hold a special place in my heart and I have them to thank for a lot of my success.
