Kevin Simonson is an amazing recruiter, military vet, and a father to two of the cutest little girls you’ve ever seen. He took over our social accounts for an entire week and shared a lot about his background, his family, and his time with trustaff. Take a look at what he shared throughout the week.
Q1: Tell us about yourself
I was born and raised in Cincinnati with my two siblings. We had a great time growing up. Our family loved to travel and play sports. Since we stuck around the area, I’m fortunate enough to have a group of friends that I’ve known since Kindergarten. I enlisted in the military as an Air Force Firefighter and served my country for 4 years, including one deployment overseas in 2003. I met an amazing woman, fell in love, and married her. Now we have two of the cutest girls on the planet.
I’ve been a recruiter at trustaff for a little over 3 years now. I was introduced to this job through a friend, Jase Simpson. I’ve had such a great time getting to know my nurses, techs, and allied professionals overs the course of my time here.
Q2: Give us your top 5 favorite songs to listen to while you’re at work
I love music, but top five would have to be:
- Hurricane – Bob Dylan
- Illmatic – Nas
- The Gael – Dougie Maclean
- Temple of the Dog – Chris Cornell
- Champion – Buju Banton
I add a bunch of them to a spotify playlist if you want to listen!
Q3: What has been your proudest moment working at trustaff?
My proudest moment working at trustaff was when one of my nurses sold her home to travel year round. She has a lot of faith in me to help her find an assignment back-to-back and she knows I have her back no matter what. It was a proud moment because I must be doing something right if she felt comfortable enough with me to drop everything and just go. She’s a rockstar!
Q4: What would you say is the best part of your job?
The best part of my job is hearing all the nurses stories. I love getting to know each of them and hearing their life stories. As a recruiter, you get to make friends from all over the country. It’s the best part.
Q5: If you could bring back one TV show, what would it be?
If I could bring back one show, it would be The Office. Definitely one of my favorites. What show would you bring back if you could?
Q6: If you could give one piece of advice to traveling nurses, what would it be?
If I had to give my travelers one tip, it would be that during your compliance, start with the medical part first. It definitely takes the longest. Turn it in early and then focus on the forms and the tests.
Q7: What is one thing that is on your bucket list that you haven’t crossed off yet?
One thing that’s on my bucket list is to publish something. I’d love to put in the work to have some written work out there. What’s one thing on your bucket list you haven’t done yet?
