<strong>Surgical Technician</strong><br /> <br />

1. General job duties. Types of procedures required.<br /> Focus in GU/GYN, and could cross to other surgical specialites within the OR.<br />
2. Equipment utilized in the unit/dept. (Is there computerized charting, medication systems, etc.)<br /> OR Nurse takes responsibility for computerized charting.<br />
3. Required skills and minimum years of experience.<br /> Completed a surgical technology program and competent in Surgical Technology, 5+ yrs preferred<br />
4. Specific licensures and certifications/registrations required. (ARRT, CRT, BLS, ACLS, etc)<br /> BLS<br />
5. Shift or schedule requirements. (Will the employee ever work alone? Is call required? If so, how often? Are weekends required?)<br /> Yes, could be scrubbing a case as the only tech, but will have a tech and nurse in OR. The # of techs per procedure are case dependent.<br /> Yes, Call is required. Average 4-5 calls per four week schedule.<br /> Weekend call is required (included in average above), but not scheduled to work weekend shifts.<br />
6. Floating to other units/departments. (If so, to which units/departments?)<br /> No<br />
7. Bed size/number of rooms for this unit/dept.<br /> 14 ORs<br />
8. Dress Code:<br /> Change to facility laundered scrub attire prior to entering OR, and placed in laundry bag prior to leaving the facility.<br />
9. Tell us about the unit/department specific training and orientation program.<br /> Standard/policy and basic knowledge review/education with educator and orientaiton with specialty tech role, length dependent upon caregiver.<br />
