Qualifications for Pursuing a Travel Occupational Therapist Job

Here at Trustaff, we have a few requirements and qualifications that we ask our potential travel occupational therapists to possess. Because this is a specialized healthcare role, we require one to two years of recent experience working as an active OT.

You will also need to have an active license or accreditation in one of the 50 U.S. states, and depending on where you'll be working, there may be additional requirements and certifications.

Having compassion and a strong desire to help, along with an adventurous spirit, will serve you well in this position as you go from one location to the next.

What to Know About Travel Occupational Therapy

Individuals who are dealing with an injury, illness or disability may have difficulty performing and completing their normal daily tasks and activities. As an occupational therapist, you'll be working one-on-one with these patients, showing them specific movements they can work on and developing helpful tools for them to improve their mobility.

With this fulfilling career path, you can help individuals overcome challenges and reach their highest level of potential with your support and guidance. Also, as you travel from one location to the next, you'll gain new experiences, connect with fellow workers, and grow as a healthcare provider and person in this career field.

Daily Duties and Responsibilities

Depending on what kind of accident or illness your patients are dealing with, they could be struggling with doing tasks ranging from sweeping the floor to buttoning their shirts. To help improve your patients' quality of life, some of your daily duties and responsibilities will involve:

  • Assisting with daily living and vocational skills

  • Teaching how to adapt and correct movement to gain independence

  • Creating a treatment plan or daily routine that supports their individual needs and goals
