#TrustaffTraveler Isaac B.

Isaac B. has been blazing trails as Trustaff's very first travel pharmacist. Over the past year, he’s brought his pharmaceutical expertise to facilities, delivering exceptional care wherever he goes. Isaac’s pioneering spirit and dedication make him a standout in the world of travel healthcare.

Q: What inspired you to become a traveler?

A: “I wanted to explore, meet new people and help the world; not just my local community.”

Q: How did you get started in travel healthcare?

A: “Started my own consulting firm.”

Q: What specialties or roles have you worked in while traveling?

A: “There are a lot of areas of pharmacy and I can contribute in all of them except nuclear pharmacy and I’m looking to do that.”

Q: What’s been your favorite location to work in so far, and why?

A: “Anywhere I’m at is my favorite because I am supposed to be there at that very moment.”

Q: How do you choose your next assignment?

A: “I keep an open mind until it’s time for me to open my mouth and everything after that is magic.”

Q: What are some unexpected challenges of living on the road?

A: “Expect the unexpected. I have an amazing wife and we are Blairs; so, whatever presents itself gets handled accordingly and we keep it moving forward.”

Q: How does patient care differ across the places you’ve worked?

Q: Have you noticed any regional trends in healthcare practices or patient needs?

A: “Yes; healthcare professionals are overworked and underpaid, but I excel because I’m not in this for the money.”

Q: What’s one memorable patient story that’s stuck with you?

A: “Every patient or coworker smile I create is infinitely memorable.”

Q: What’s in your “must-pack” list for every assignment?

A: “My Faith.”

Q: How do you handle housing, transportation and licensing?

A: “Negotiation. Attempt to get the client to pay for as much as possible. We can turn down an assignment if it is not a win win scenario. Be proactive vs reactive and call hotels, rental car companies, use membership perks and eat economically.

Q: Any tips for managing finances while on the move?

A: “Yes, save more than you spend.”

Q: What advice would you give to someone considering a career in travel healthcare?

A: “Be well organized, flexible and versatile.”

Q: What’s one thing you wish you knew before you started?

A: “I think I know everything but know that I do not. Listening to comprehend and not just to respond works.”

Q: How do you stay connected with friends, family and professional networks?

A: “Phone, text messages and email.”

Q: How has traveling shaped you personally and professionally?

A: “Quality of life has dramatically improved.”

Q: What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned on the road?

A: “How to make your luggage work for you instead of you working for the luggage.”

Q: Where do you see yourself in five years—still traveling or settling down?

A: “Traveling, I have 2 speeds: stop and hyperactive. Go to bed exhausted every day and you’ve done something.”

Q: What state are you currently working at and how long have you been with Trustaff?

A: “Indiana and I’ve been with Trustaff about a year.”
