Respiratory Therapist Job Description

As a travel respiratory therapist, you'll help patients in one location for a period of time before moving on to your next location. Being able to take your skills on the road and experience a sense of adventure and variety in your career will help you grow your skills and quickly learn how to adapt to challenges.

RT Duties and Responsibilities

Your main responsibility as a respiratory therapist is to assist patients who are having trouble breathing. Several conditions like asthma or chronic respiratory disease can make it hard to breathe. A traumatic injury or event like shock or a heart attack can also affect a patient's ability to breathe normally.

As a respiratory therapist, you will perform the necessary diagnostic tests to learn more about each patient's condition and then work alongside the care team to develop a treatment plan. Having the knowledge and skills to understand an array of disorders and treatment approaches will help you treat patients properly.
