Cath Lab RN Qualifications
Understanding the ins and outs of a cath lab nurse position can take time — even when stationed at the same location. To help you feel the most comfortable in new places, Trustaff requires future travelers to already have one to two years of experience in the catheterization lab. Additionally, we ask that you have a currently active nursing license or other accreditation in the state where you wish to work before applying.
Cath Lab RN Duties and Responsibilities
While cath lab nurses primarily assist with catheterization, their role can extend to angioplasties, valvuloplasties, pacemaker implantations and other cardiac procedures. In this position, you will be there for your patient every step of the way during their procedure — from ensuring they are ready before the procedure to monitoring their vitals afterward.
Some cath lab nurse duties include:
Filling correct paperwork
Updating patient files
Administering medications
Working alongside and communicating effectively with other nurses and physicians
Offering pre- and post-treatment education for patient care
Sterilizing procedural equipment
