Want to work as a nurse in Florida? Whether you are looking to work as a travel nurse in Florida, or you are looking for a permanent nurse job in FL, we usually suggest the same process. First, apply for your temporary license, and once you receive this you can start working and can apply for your permanent nursing license. Florida is part of the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC). If you are currently licensed in another eNLC participating state, you are eligible to work in Florida without getting a Florida nursing license.
In Florida, only active duty military spouses are eligible to apply for a temporary nursing license. You will need to apply to the state board and pay a fee of $108. If everything checks out, you will receive your temporary license.
In order to get your permanent nursing license in the state of Florida, you will need to apply to the state board and pay a fee of $110. Once all your application requirements are met, and if everything checks out, you will usually receive your permanent Florida nursing license within 1-3 months.
