Blog/#TrustaffTraveler On Assignment
Ashley has been traveling with Trustaff, alongside her fiancé Zach, since February 2025. Together, they’ve embraced the adventure of healthcare travel and are currently on assignment in Michigan. With her fiancé and their Doberman, Thane, by her side, Ashley continues to explore new places while delivering exceptional patient care.
A: “My fiancé is the one who inspired me to be a traveler-being a traveler himself!”
A: “After having a bad day in a toxic work environment elsewhere, he casually mentioned that I should do what he does, and I never looked back.”
A: “I was hired as a PRN in Flagstaff, Arizona, and from there worked full time in other hospitals until I had enough experience to travel.”
A: “I had the pleasure of working in endoscopy at the University of Kentucky, which was very fascinating.”
A: “Our favorite location has to be Colorado; we go back any chance that we get due to the many fun things to do and appealing weather.”
A: “If we can't get into Colorado or Arizona, we simply choose to go where we have never been (easier for me, since my fiancé's dad was in the navy, so they got to see more than me).”
A: “The most challenging thing for me is letting go and trusting that things will fall into place (planning where to live from another state, the drive there, etc.).”
A: “Patient care doesn't differ too much from place to place. Fortunately, all of the hospitals that I have been to take great care to ensure they meet Joint Commission standards (which is fortunate, since I have had to be a patient myself at two locations!).”
A: “The most important thing that comes with me while traveling is, of course, my fiancé and our Doberman, Thane.”
A: “We take two vehicles, and our boy rides in my back seat. He is also the inspiration for our housing, as we always ensure we are getting a place with a fenced-in backyard so he can get his exercise.”
A: “Finances aren't too difficult to manage with both of us getting paid, but we definitely make use of the resources out there to get good deals on food, gas, housing, etc.”
A: “My only recommendation is to save up some money for if you ever find your start date unexpectedly pushed back.”
A: “On the fun side: map your trip and research fun places to check out on the way there! You will be sure to wrack up pictures to show and stories to tell.”
A: “I keep in touch with family and friends via social media and being able to video chat on my phone. I may not have been able to do this without those means.”
A: “The biggest lesson I have learned is not about the job, but about life; don't let it pass you by, explore, have fun and live it to the fullest!”
A: “I look to do this as long as I can, but if we do decide to settle down, we've definitely chosen Colorado.”
