#TrustaffTraveler Ignacio D.L.T.

Ignacio, a dedicated Histotechnologist, has been traveling with Trustaff since November 2023. He’s currently on assignment in Charleston, South Carolina, where his precision and passion for lab work are making a real impact. We’re proud to support Ignacio as he continues to bring excellence to every specimen and every assignment!

Q: What inspired you to become a traveler?

A: “I liked the idea of traveling around the country and picking up new techniques along the way.”

A: “I went to a traditional four-year University program and got a Bachelor of Science in Histotechnology.”

Q: What specialties or roles have you worked in while traveling?

A: “Outside of standard histology (cutting, embedding, processing), I have also worked in Special Stains and Special Microtomy.”

Q: What’s been your favorite location to work in so far, and why?

A: “So far Charleston, South Carolina. The staff are great and very welcoming of travelers.”

Q: How do you choose your next assignment?

A: “Usually, the location and time of year are the most important factors.”

Q: What are some unexpected challenges of living on the road?

A: “The hardest for me is being away from family and friends for extended amounts of time.”

Q: How does patient care differ across the places you’ve worked?

A: “There is no difference, they are all treated with respect and the utmost importance.”

Q: Have you noticed any regional trends in healthcare practices or patient needs?

A: “I do my own licensing as well as finding my own housing. As for transportation, I generally rent a car to get to the location and bike everywhere once there.”

Q: Any tips for managing finances while on the move?

A: “Check your bank statements to make sure the pay is correct as well as finding a budgeting app to track where everything goes.”

Q: What advice would you give to someone considering a career in travel healthcare?

Q: What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned on the road?

A: “Take your time getting to your destination, keep a level head when challenges arise, and always keep a positive attitude.”
