Become a Kentucky Travel Nurse

1. Collect your materials

Along with submitting your application, fingerprint card and associated fees, you will need to secure a federal criminal background check, official nursing degree or transcript, proof of completion of the Kentucky jurisprudence exam and verification of two contact hours of HIV/AIDS training.

2. Submit your application

You can submit your application and supplementary materials to the State Board online or walk in for an in-person appointment. As long as you don't have any disciplinary actions or prior convictions against you, you will be issued your temp license that day.

3. Maintain compliance

While most states require recertification every two years, Kentucky law states you must re-certify each year. Applicants must prove they are in an active travel nursing job in Kentucky and have completed at least 14 continuing education (CE) credits during the last year.
